My parents worked hard to make sure my brothers and sister and I could eat. They kept a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs during some tough economic times.
Flash forward to today, and families are still facing the same challenges. Alaska's economy is failing, and we need to rethink how we handle it.
One of the reasons that I left the Democrat Party is that they had no desire to empower people to better themselves or their livelihoods. They were content to let people come begging for handouts, no matter how damaging it was to that person's pride and self-worth. They didn't want people to be self-sufficient -- they wanted the people to need them.
Every man and woman that wants to have a job should have a job. And we should find a way to get government out of the way so our businesses can afford to expand, grow, and hire.
I want to solve the poverty crisis, I want to solve the homelessness crisis, and I want to solve the unemployment crisis. Most importantly, I want to inspire a generation of Alaskans to never again live without hope and purpose.
