I remember what it was like to feel hopeless as a child. The feeling that opportunity will come to your friends, but not to you, is a hard one. The statement from a teacher who told me I'd never amount to anything except an entry-level McDonald's employee -- it still stings.
But strong role models and mentors -- including my parents -- encouraged me to prove that feeling of hopelessness wrong.
Mentorship is crucial. Without it, kids turn to crime and violence. Without it, kids lack the compass to know where success lies. Without it, out community suffers.
As your next representative, I'll prioritize interaction with the next generation. For the future of our state, we need to do more to connect with and encourage our future leaders.
I'd be honored to earn your support!
